Introduction

In the following weeks I will be exploring the cultural aspects of chosen topics, their impact and importance in society and how we perceive, utilise and develop them through different media. Looking into the past and present of these will provide us with insight into what is waiting for us in the future and hopefully inspire new ideas and concepts expressed through the media of games and entertainment.

I will be researching 2 topics:

Nature in Design: Looking at evolution and how its designs tackle with extreme efficiency the problem of adapting to the environment and surviving. Mimicking nature to solve the problems of our designs today and achieve maximum efficiency is one of the most important tasks for a designer today. A design based on nature, a design that mimics nature, will ultimately be, a good design. I wish to explore how these designs inspired by nature can lead to a more eco friendly, sustainable and long lasting world.

Exploring technology that relies on the product of billions of years of development and how the knowledge of this is applied to new, exciting developments in the design of various media.
Creation, the art of making: For years I have been fascinated with our ability to create innovative, original products that aim to be useful and problem solving, or are just created for the mere objective of expression or art.

My other topic of interest is "Creation, the art of making": How the humans ability to create tools and develop ideas into fully fleshed products is seen in media, from a cultural point of view.
Influences, exposure and social relationships play a great part in the way we look at how to create things and what we create them for. I wish to explore how these factors have affected our creations and even our ability to create through time, and how the future of creation can be seen in the near future.

I will be using a colour coding system to identify references, imagery and my own personal comments on the research I provide. This is how they will follow:

It's a good start. The topics are quite interesting. I think you need to do more research as by now you should have done. There are many ideas you could look at with these two topics, don't be scared to broaden your view and look at a lot of possibilities.
